What Readers Are Saying

The story beautifully captures the magic of childhood curiosity and imagination, taking us on a delightful adventure through the eyes of an imaginative adorable little Filipino boy. I love how the narrative transitions from a simple discovery—a bottle cap outside—into a creative journey, highlighting themes of resourcefulness, teamwork, and kindness. The character of the ant is adorable—easily distracted yet clever and caring—which makes the story both engaging and heartwarming. The idea of turning the bottle cap into a boat and a protective cover for the ant hill is so clever and adds a fun, inventive touch. The illustrations are beautiful and really bring the tiny world of ants to life, helping young readers visualize and immerse themselves in this imaginative setting. Overall, this story is a lovely blend of creativity, cultural richness, and meaningful lessons. It’s sure to inspire children to see everyday objects with new eyes and to value kindness and ingenuity.

“You Don't Know Where It's Been” is a whimsical, playful and imaginative story to bring readers into thinking about Ants. We especially enjoyed naming our Ant. Readers young and old could find themselves caring for this small creature and wondering what's next for the Ant.

I love how this book shows children that things in the world around them that some people might see as garbage could actually be very useful to other creatures. It also shows how to use your imagination. I like the extensive vocabulary used in the book because it helps children to learn new words in a fun way. The pictures are great at bringing the story to life.

What a delightful and imaginative adventure! This story is full of creativity and charm, with so many thoughtful, personal touches that make it truly special. My child especially loved the interactive element of getting to name the ant—it made the experience feel personal and memorable. The imaginative ways the ant envisions using the bottle cap were so clever and fun, sparking great conversations between us. We truly enjoyed reading it together! The illustrations are absolutely beautiful and bring the story to life in a way that feels perfectly matched to the whimsical tone of the book. A fun read from start to finish!
